Pair of ornate lidded vases in Empire style, Meissen, Knauf period (late 19th century)

Porcelain, cobalt blue ground, etched and polished gold decoration, each vase with a pressed, bulbous body screwed onto a round foot, featuring a long, tapered neck. The foot and body are decorated with a continuous relief frieze of acanthus, laurel, and tongue flowers in matte and burnished gold. Both lids are flat with an acanthus frieze and baluster knob. The underglaze blue crossed swords mark is on the base of each vase. One vase bears the impressed model number "E158" and one incised model number "G(?)158," as well as painter's numbers. Heights are approximately 40 and 41.5 cm. One vase has a chip on the rim and lid, the lid knob is broken and repaired, and the gold decoration shows slight wear in places.
