William Baring (1881-1961) worked for the Meissen porcelain manufactory as a freelance painter with a fixed salary from 1911 to 1945. The shaping and decoration of the so-called "Urstücke" ("I. Urstück") were carried out, supervised, or reworked by the artist himself. The pieces decorated by Baring mostly feature simple, functional, or timeless forms.
